About the NR6
A streaming system shares its network with an increasingly complex collection of devices: computers, televisions, phones, smart appliances and wireless access points. The NR6 introduces a dedicated audio network within this environment.
Designed from the outset for HiFi applications, it separates the home and audio network domains. CelAudio’s proprietary communication protocols maintain access and control between the two, allowing the playback system to operate within its own network while remaining accessible for everyday use.
Dedicated Network Architecture
Network separation must accommodate more than an internet connection. A music system may also need to communicate with a local server, discover playback devices and receive commands from a phone or tablet.
The NR6’s architecture addresses this relationship between separation and usability. The home network and HiFi network are treated as distinct domains, with communication managed between them.
This distinction is central to the product’s purpose: creating a dedicated networking environment for the audio system while preserving the connections required to use it.
Separate Wi-Fi Hardware
The wireless section is implemented on dedicated hardware, separating Wi-Fi operation from the core audio networking architecture.
This arrangement supports the NR6’s broader division of responsibilities: wireless access, household connectivity and the dedicated HiFi network are considered separately within the system design.
Network Interfaces and External Clocking
RJ45 Ethernet and SFP connectivity provide options for integrating the NR6 into a wired playback network. The connection medium used through an SFP interface depends on the installed, compatible module.
An external 10 MHz clock input allows the NR6 to accept a reference from a compatible clock source.
